Hello,
My Name is Louanna Edwards, and I am the owner and caregiver here at Hugs and Kisses Home Childcare. I am a License and certified childcare provider. I am CPR and First aid certified. My home has 2600 sq. ft. of childcare space. I am married of 17 years to my husband Ken who Pastors a church. I have two children, my daughter Casey 14 and my son Kenny 12. I went to Oakland community college for child devopement, and worked in the Lamphere and Southfield school distract, as well as some childcare centers.
My goal is to provide quality childcare with love and kindness for each child. I know the concern for quality good childcare for parents, and how difficult it is to leave our precious children in the hands of someone else. I worked when my children were little, and it always pained me to have them away. So I fully understand the concerns, and desire a Mother and Father go through in choosing the right childcare provider. I hope to answer any question(s) you may have either through this web site or in person or by phone. Feel free to contact me at anytime.

My goal is to offer a safe and clean enviroment for all the children. Each night after the kids leave, the toys and all surface's including all nap mats are disenfected, and cleaned for the next day. We have five fire alarms, and three carbon monoxide detectors. Our fire exstinglisher is inspected on a regular basis, and is located in our laundry room for easy access. Our furnace and hot water tank has been inspected by a certified heating and cooling inspector. The doors stay locked all through out the day. We will do everything possible to maintain a clean and safe enviroment. Our backyard is completely fenced in with a six foot privacy fence.
My Philosophy
I will strive to provide a safe, comfortable, stimulating, fun, educational environment in my home with a semi-structured day plan. Activities will include free playtime, structured playtime, large motor skill playtime, small motor skills activities, story time and pretend play, arts and crafts, music and dance, nature, nutrition and other educational yet fun activities. I will also provide nutritious meals and snacks, and encourage good personal hygiene skills and manners.
The television will rarely be on during regular childcare hours, and then only to watch educational programs or activities which I have personally pre-screened to be appropriate for even the youngest viewers.
I do not believe in pushing any child to learn at an accelerated rate, and will not make a child feel pressured to achieve developmental milestones. By providing the right kind of fun safe environment, I believe the children will learn at their own appropriate pace. |

| It is important that all children feel comfortable and safe while here at our home. We encourage the children to bring picture's of family member's, and we provide them a cubbie to place their personal belongings. We will have fun and learn many things through out our day. We will be doing all sorts of crafts, singing, dancing, counting, ABC's, puzzle's, baking, sharing, circle time, book reading, and much more. |

There's a homelike, nurturing atmosphere.
Groups are small--the maximum child-to-adult ratio is 4:1, with no more than 2 infants.
The facility includes mixed ages, which more closely mimics most families.
It's usually the least expensive childcare option.
Children have an opportunity to play and learn with others.
The facility usually offers some flexible scheduling.
The caregiver is usually a mother.
They tend to close for fewer holidays than daycare centers.
Nationally, more children under age 3 are in family daycare than daycare centers. In this setup, a woman, though rarely a man, cares for up to 8 children, including no more than 2 infants--or a total of 3 babies--in her own home. Family daycare is often a more affordable alternative to in-home care and offers some of the same benefits--a warm, friendly environment, opportunity for one-on-one interaction, and less exposure to viruses than a child would have at a center.
